Alumni Club Welcomed Scoonie Penn on April 23rd
May 4, 2016Charleston was honored to host Scoonie Penn for their Annual Distinguished Speaker Dinner. The day began with a golf outing under nearly perfect weather conditions. Charleston members Bob Kinney, Randy Tuck, Andrew Stroman, Jim Gill Tom Fressilli, Al Antol and Barry Thomas all joined Scoonie at Crowfield Golf Club for 18 holes.
Saturday evening 35 Buckeyes gathered at the Harbour Club in downtown Charleston beginning with a social hour providing an opportunity for everyone to meet Scoonie personally. After dinner, Brendan Braaten, our Regional Engagement Officer, briefly addressed the group with greetings and an overview of his interface between the Alumni Association and clubs in the Southeast Region.
Scoonie followed with an engaging presentation. He shared his influences that helped him become the man he is today, circumstances that brought him to Ohio State, his family and his driving passion to reach out to young people with a message of hope. As the evening was closing local Buckeyes were able to ask questions.
To use a cliché statement…”and a good time was had by all”. Thanks Scoonie, we really enjoyed having you with us!
